Lifestraw was very popular especially with the school groups as it was a totally inter-active epxerience with Rotarians spending most of their day drinking dirty water from beer glasses. What was even more pleasing for the team was hearing from the many As on the first day, promotion of Rotary was happening in several other places on the Showground. A sign promoting the RC of Scunthorpe was seen in the agricultural machinery section and as you can see from the attached picture the Rotary Roundel was on the switchcard machine of the young men from Jardin Du France who had actually been on a stand at the Birmingham Convention - they were delighted to see more Rotarians at the Lincolnshire Show. Several potential members visited the stand - some for District 1270 and some our neighbouring District - 1070. All the contact were emailed immediately and RC of Boston have replied with their thanks saying that they do actually know the individual whose details were forwarded to them so will contact as a priority. The team were also pleased to hear from a couple of people who wanted to some Rotary assistance with particular activities including transporting a group of youngsters with disabilities to their weekly bowlng meetings. Something which had stopped when their driver had died at Christmas. There is no doubt that the wonderful weather and superb location next to the main ring together with the partnership with the Show Organisers all helped to promote Rotary in District 1270. |
