The newly opened Rotary Youth Centre located within the East Stand of Craven Park home of Hull Kingston Rovers will be equipped with much needed media equipment thanks to Rotarian Graham Horrell and his two colleagues Carl Bennett and Glyn Hughes.
The three men who are employed by global energy company PSN located at The Deep Business Centre won the Integrity category of the 2009 PSN Core Value Awards for which they receive £1000 to donate to a charity of their choice. Graham Horrell explains "As a member of District 1270 Flood Relief Task Force, I was actively involved in the construction of the Rotary Youth Centre which is providing such a valuable resource to the young people who live in East Hull. I was so pleased when my colleagues agreed that our donation should be given to the Hull KR Education and Sport Trust and even more delighted that our donation has been boosted by local Company Procom as this means the club gets the media presentation equipment it needs".
Stuart Ingram of Procom is pleased to be involved with the Rotary Youth Centre. He said “As a local company who already has links with many local schools and sponsors various sporting events and kits etc, we are always excited to be involved with projects that enable the youth of Hull to gain access to modern technology. Procom would like to offer its congratulations to Carl, Graham and Glyn and hope that this joint sponsorship deal will allow a wide range of the local community to come into contact with a flexible, tailored Audio Visual media installation” Since the official opening in June, The Rotary Youth Centre is still trying to raise funds to purchase more furniture and equipment in order to deliver a full range of activities for the young people who use the Centre. John Gosnold Trustee of the Hull KR Trust said "by installing media equipment in the Centre we will be able to engage with youngsters in so many ways from a formal learning environment to a leisure facility on which computer games can be played and DVD's watched. There is no doubt that young people respond to modern communication media. We are very grateful to Carl, Graham and Glyn for sharing their success with us and congratulate them on their achievement." PSN’s award scheme rewards employees who demonstrate exceptional commitment to their jobs and act as role models for others to follow. Carl, Graham and Glyn came out on top for managing contract discussions with a customer on a critical project, in an open and honest manner that benefitted all parties. |
