District Governor Nominee, Terry Sykes is one of six people who received the Spirit of Barnsley awards in June. The awards, run by One Barnsley and the Barnsley Chronicle, recognise volunteers who do outstanding work in the Community. The panel selected Terry and the 5 other award winners from dozens of nominations from across the borough. Terry was nominated by Lynn Dunning for his work as a Rotarian, his leadership of the Friends of Cannon Hall and his efforts in setting up a museum at the town hall. She said "Terry is an exceptionally generous man, someone who willingly volunteers his time to help improve the quality of life for people. He is a fantastic ambassor for culture and for heritage"
