The District GSE Team heads out Early Saturday Morning from Humberside to East Africa, Dristrict 9200.  The team Lead by Rotarian Sue Preston from The Rotary Club of Sheffield hope to arrive safely in Ethiopia late Saturday night, where they will spend their first night in a hotel, before being met by their hosts for the next 10 days of the exchange. 

Team member Gemma Bell sponsored by Barton Rotary Club is looking forward to being at altitude.  Gemma a keen athlete competes all over the UK in the Humberside Police Cross Country Running Team says the altitude may give her the edge in a competition she is hoping to compete in the day after she arrives back in the UK.

Justine Blau is a self employed artist originally from Luxembourg but has been living and working in Hull for the past three years.  She is looking forward to the seeing the way that Art is portrayed in rural Africa. Justine is very grateful to The Rotary Club of Hull who have agreed to sponser she on the opportunity of a life time.

After ten days in Ethiopia the team fly into Niarobi, Kenya for the next leg of the trip.  The team will experience all that Kenya has to offer including the District 9200 Conference which is being held in Mombassa on the Kenyian Coast.  Jackie Hunter from Lincoln Rotaract says it will be nice to see another District's conference.  Jackie enjoyed District 1270's conference in Southport last year and is excited about the fancy dress ball.

Team Leader Sue is expecting the trip to be hard with all the different host wanting to show some unique part of their life and culture.  Schools will play a large part in Sue's visit being a Head Teacher herself.

Rob Davison the final member of the exchange team a keen conservationalist is hoping to see how the wildlife is being cared for and used to bring needed investment into remote areas.  Tourism is a good may to help the poorer areas grow and become more prosperous.  Free trade project may also help in the long term.  The Rotary Club of Brigg are happy to sponsor Rob on this Exchange as it is good to experience new and exciting cultures and feel that he will be a valuable member of the team.

The Most of the team fly back from Niarobi on the 3rd of June.  Rob has arranged to go on to Uganda and meet up with some of the team that came over here last Year.  Rob, President of Scunthorpe and Brigg Rotarct Club, is also hoping to met fellow Rotaractors in Uganda where they can exchange views and ideas.  He flies back on the 14th June.  The team hope to keep you all informed of their exploits on the GSE MicroSite within District 1270's website.
