Cheque presentationHumberston Park Special School  in Cleethorpes, gives education of the highest value to a 100 children, with disabilities, and 15 years ago, it was realised that a Hydrotherapy Pool would give tremendous benefit to the pupils. Fund raising occurred and a hundred thousand pounds was raised to build the pool. Since that time £0.75 million has been raised. Brian Marsh, who spoke to the Rotarian’s weekly meeting, has been Chairman of the fund raising committee for all those years.

Despite the very valid claims made for support, major national charities have not helped the Hydrotherapy Pool, and so Brian and others continue their very worthwhile task of fund raising to ensure the running costs can continue to be met. Following a refusal from the National Lottery, the people of Grimsby and Cleethorpes held a ‘Not the National Lottery’ weekend and raised £40,000 .

Every child, between 2 and 19 years of age who uses the pool requires special equipment to get them in and out of the pool. The cost of heating, water and consumables continues to rise, and so the fund raising needs to go on. The benefits from watching the therapy and antics in the pool makes all the fund raising efforts worthwhile. The children benefit from the warmth and the exercise, and after time in the pool, the children sleep more soundly, giving some respite for their carers.

Market Rasen Rotary Club were pleased to help in a small way, with a presentation of a cheque for £300.00
