Local Lincoln residents Kieran Brennan and Jordan Gledding were both runners up in the Junior Archery event, at the District 1270 Disability Games.
As they were unable to receive their trophies on the day, Rotary District Governor Elect, Peter Manton, decided to make amends and visit their St Christopher’s School, North Hykeham, to present them with their trophies in front of their school colleagues and proud parents. The duo came join second in their event against fierce competition at a full day of indoor games organised by Rotary District 1270 which takes in a huge area from Barnsley up to Hornsea down to Skegness and back to Lincoln.
Lincoln’s Yarborough Leisure Centre was the venue; and 315 competitors from the District checked in for a day of sport, covering swimming, darts, table tennis, weight lifting, kurling (and yes it is spelt with a ‘K’), boccia (bowls for the disabled), archery, rifle shooting and snooker. District Governor Elect, Peter, commented that this was one of the major District events, involving over 40 Rotary Clubs, and he was delighted that Kieran and Jordan had brought trophies home to Lincoln were it had all start 10 years ago. |
