The Rotary Club of Lincoln Continues Supporting Youth Musical Talent
Monday, 16 March 2009
The Rotary Club of Lincoln continues its long tradition of support and encouraging Lincolnshire young musical talent with the presentation of a Trophy at the annual Music Festival, held at Central Methodist Church, Lincoln. President Stephen Pope is pictured presenting the Lincoln Rotary Club Trophy to Olivia Warburton.
Olivia was placed first out of a strong class of seven contenders, all of secondary school age (school years 10-13) each having sung two contrasting songs of their own choice.
The Lincoln Rotary Club Trophy is one of the original festival trophies, having been first awarded in 1936 and since 2002 the Trophy has been awarded to the winner of the Vocal Repertoire class (secondary school age).
The Club also organises two Youth Concerts, in July and November of each year, featuring young musicians in the Lincolnshire Youth Orchestras.
