On Friday 6th February members and friends of the Rotary Club of Hull Paragon gathered in Cottingham for an evening of fun, fellowship and fooling.

A panel of three, all unused to both wine and the finer points of deception, each tried to convince the audience that their description of the wine being sampled was correct.

These descriptions were heard in an atmosphere entirely suited to their nature … lean and tart… peppery … finesse …fresh, fruity and young (and this was just the panel).

After all the wines had been sampled three of the seven teams were tied on five correct answers out of six. Including an auction of a Rotary watch kindly donated by one of the members and a raffle of goods provided by the rest, a total of £411 was raised for Hull & East Riding Institute for the Blind.
