Blood pressure measuring events took place across England and Wales on Friday and Saturday (7/8th April) and the Rotary Club of Doncaster St Leger in partnership with health professionals from 2 local Primary Care Trusts was an enthusiastic participant.
748 Doncaster residents had their blood pressure checked at Supermarkets and Doncaster Health Focus as part of St Leger's programme.
Nurse volunteers described it as a "fantastic" response which identified a significant number of residents with elevated blood pressure.
Peter Brewitt, President of St Leger, pointed out to the local press that stroke doesn't discriminate - it can happen to anyone at any time and is the third biggest killer in the UK.
This is the fourth consecutive year in which the club has run a stroke awareness campaign and this year a special display picked up on another Rotary campaign and warned of the health problems associated with having too much salt.
Peter has publicly committed the club to continuing its support for stroke awareness in the future
