For the first time ever the Black Dyke Band - the current champion band of Great Britain - will be playing at Beverley Minster on May 9. The concert is being organised by the Rotary Club of Humberside - and is the idea of the Major Events Committee which was formed several months ago. Money raised from the concert will be distributed to three local charities - Dove House Hospice, the Dasiy Appeal at the new hospital at Cottingham and Jacob's Well in Beverley. Tickets for the concert are £15, £12 and £10. Rotary members who require tickets can book them now by calling 01482-848772. Tickets will be going on sale to the general public on February 9 and will then be available from the Tourist Information offices in both Beverley and Hull. Club PRO Geoff Hibbert said it was hope to raise a considerable amount for the charities. In October last year a concert given by the Humberside Police Band at North Ferriby Village Hall raised £1,400. "We can accommodate around 800 people at the Minster and we are hoping there'll be sufficient support from people in the area to fill every seat", Geoff said.
