On Bank holiday monday Tony and Julie Saunders hosted a lunch for the Colombian GSE team, and their hosts, and District 1270's team that are leaving for Colombia on 17 May.
As time is running out for 1270's team, team leader Stuart Leyland had the team practising their presentations in Spanish. The presence of the Colombian team gave the team a fantastic opportunity for one to one spanish lessons and Sarah was the first to make the most of it as you can see from the photo.
Kit was also given to the team members - hats and polo shirts all duly bearing the Rotary wheel and District 1270, Stephanie and Fiona being the models.
E ssential medical supplies were also distributed. There was a team debriefing which included PR and media where it was explained to all three participants that it is hoped that PR will be arranged which include local press, radio and where possible staff magazines. Apart from wanting to ensure that the organisations that have released their staff for 4 weeks get recognition for their contribution it will help with the recruitment of potential members for next year's visit to the Philippines. One of the strategic aims for this year is to increase the number of applications for this valuable vocational visit to another country. If the team can be selected sooner rather than later they get a better chance to prepare and bond with each other as well as having the opportunity to undertake a grant sponsored language course.
