Audrey HuntleyAs soon as it was confirmed that Rotary District 1270 had raised sufficient funds to sponsor one of the Hull Freedom Trail vehicles it was decided that the vehicle would travel in the memory of one of the District's most dedicated Rotarians, Bill Huntley.

Bill, a member of the Rotary Club of Alford and Mablethorpe, was one of only four British Rotarians to become RI President.

He was well known for his dedication to Rotary Foundation and was especially passionate about supporting Rotary Peace Scholars.  It is therefore very fitting that his name is associated with a project that is dedicated to helping the young child victims of the civil war in Sierra Leone.  The vehicles are to be used by aid agencies - HANCI and St George Foundation - who try to repatriate and educate these young people who have had their childhood stolen from them.

The photo shows Bill's widow, Audrey, who went to see the vehicle when it visited the Alford and Mablethorpe Club three weeks before its scheduled departure on 25th October 2007.
