Another successful event at Woodhall! The Christmas Fair along Station Road and the Broadway, organised by the Rotary Club of Woodhall Spa, attracted huge crowds again and proved itself to be a resounding success.
Santa and his Pixie helper were on hand to receive over two hundred children through the Grotto. Although the event is not a big fund raiser for the Club, being primarily a Community event for the village, The Hot Chocolate (with optional Baileys) stall raised enough to send three children to see Santa in Finland through Wish upon a Star and the Mulled Wine (potent) and Mince Pie tent added to our Charity funds. The Fair brings the Club together in a flurry of activity prior to the evening, from cutting and erecting the tree in the Millenium garden (another Club project), decorating the whole length of the streets with lights and a superb display in the Garden, building the Grotto to organising over eighty trader's stalls. The actual evening involves policing the street closure, directing stall holders, manning the stalls and. of course, clearing up afterwards. Apart from the obvious advantage to the village, it also serves to bring the Club together in a spirit (you name it, we have it) of fellowship which is a great plus of Rotary! |
