Another busy month for the Hull Freedom Trail vehicle. On Saturday 11th August, Doncaster St Leger promoted Rotary and the Hull Freedom Trail in Lakeside Shopping Centre. Located in a prime location they attracted interest from potential Rotarians as well as developing a good relationship with the Centre Manager which may be very useful for a Christmas project.
John Chapman accompanied by Rotary driver, Chrissy Moog are seen in the attached photo together with Hull Freedom Trail vehicle number 2. Meanwhile, vehicle number 1 which is seen in most photos was actually on its way to Shelterbox but thats another story. On 19th August, Hull Freedom Trail vehicle number 2 went to Cleethorpes for President Geoff Peterson's hogroast. Despite the dreadful weather (not seen in this photo) the Rotary Club of Cleethorpes raised another £200 specifically for the Hull Freedom Trail, in addition to other donations.

On Thursday 23rd August, Andy Lindsay attended the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Market Rasen to give a formal presentation on the Hull Freedom Trail. The picture shows International Chairman, Ray Pearson and Tim Day holding a cheque for £506 - the proceeds from the barbecue held at Tim's Farm in support of the Freedom Trail. They are accompanied by other members of the International Committee. Sunday 26 August and the Hull Freedom Trail Vehicle was at Sheffield Fayre - an event which has several Sheffield Rotarians on the organising committee. Due to this and an event at Castleton Camp, the Rotary Club of Sheffield were well supported by District Officers, Simon Kalson and Freya Cross together with District Governor John and his wife, Sally. Another key member of the stand team was Steve Tong, who is shortly to be inducted at the Rotary Club of Epworth and the Isle of Axholme. Steve became involved in Rotary and the Hull Freedom Trail as a direct result of District 1270's stand at the Lincolnshire Show (more about that in another article soon to be published). Attendance at the Sheffield Fayre proved to be fruitful with two potential members coming forward as well as meeting an ex-Interactor who would like to be involved. The next day, the Hull Freedom Trail vehicle was sited at the Epworth Show - details and photos to follow. |
