The sun was in the sky on Sunday 8 July when members of the Rotary Club of Market Rasen descended on hosts, Tim and Liz Day for the annual barbecue but heavy rain was on its way just as the last guests arrived.
Everyone rose to the challenge and quickly the whole event was moved from the immaculate gardens to an equally immaculate and conveniently empty shed. The event was organised by the Club's International Committee to raise funds for the Hull Freedom Trail Vehicle which is being sponsored by District 1270.
Spirits were not at all dampened by the weather - Bob served up an excellent hog roast complimented with salads made by the hostess and her friends and followed by some superb sweets.
Rotary Driver, Bas Blackbourn, accompanied by the District PRO were invited to explain the purpose of the Hull Freedom Trail to the assembled guests before the ever popular traditional raffle. At the time of writing this article in excess of £500 had been raised but they are still counting in Market Rasen! The successful team are pictured in the Freedom Trail Diary for July. |
