Media Interest in the Hull Freedom Trail PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 22 June 2007

Bas & MikeThere is absolutely no doubt that Rotary 1270's support of the Hull Freedom Trail would attract the interest of the Lincolnshire media especially when one of the drivers was from the Rotary Club of Lincoln.

A Press Release circulated to radio, television, monthly and daily print together with advance telephone calls achieved the desired effect.  This was then re-inforced with visits to the media stands.BBC

On Wednesday, Lincolnshire Echo reporter, Anna Temple interviewed Bas and Mike James (the expedition driver with responsibility for route planning and vehicles) about the rationale for the expedition, the challenges ahead and why Rotary District 1270 is sponsoring one of the five vehicles.

On the Thursday, Bas and two of the Young Trailblazers, Kayla and Nick were interviewed live by BBC Radio Lincolnshire for about 4-5 mins.  This was a new experience for the youngsters who were extremely nervous.  However, with support and guidance from District 1270 PRO and the stalwart interviewee, Bas, they did very well.  The sense of achievement and confidence that theyPhotographer both exuded when they had finished was a pleasure to see.

Finally two of the monthly publications have requested pictures and full editorials for their next publications.
