Dear Governor Sperr,
On behalf of Rotary International President Bill Boyd and President-elect Wilf Wilkinson, thank you for your recent message regarding District 1270’s Hull Freedom Trail project. As one of the RI staff liaisons for Rotary’s Community Service programs, it is a pleasure to respond on the presidents’ behalf. As you know, Rotary was founded on the principle of promoting international understanding, goodwill, and peace through humanitarian service. We appreciate District 1270’s efforts to support these ideals by raising awareness about human trafficking and slavery through the Hull Freedom Trail project. The abolition of human trafficking and slavery is an important cause that resonates deeply in the humanitarian service of Rotarians around the world. Every year Rotary clubs and districts carryout thousands of projects to promote literacy, alleviate hunger, improve public health, provide safe drinking water, and eliminate poverty. While Rotary as a whole remains committed to the eradication of polio, these individual projects contribute greatly to global development efforts and help prevent human trafficking and slavery. We wish you and District 1270 the best as you embark on your journey along the Hull Freedom Trail and hope your efforts to raise awareness and stop human trafficking and slavery are successful. David Plater, Program Coordinator ,Service Support & Awards Department, Rotary International
