Music and Cheese - What do they have in Common? Ask RC Humberside PDF Print E-mail

This unusual combination will be the focus of a "fun and fellowship" social evening organised by the Rotary Club of Humberside on Saturday 17th March.

Price £15 per head to include 2 course hot buffet.

It will be held in the recently refurbished Swanland Village Hall (adjacent to the pond). There will be a licensed bar.

The evening will start with ‘musical mysteries’ when members will listen to a wide variety of music which they have heard before although they may be mystified when they try to remember the context, composer etc. For example, having heard the tune members could be asked the question "What was the name of the film always associated with that famous song ‘You must remember this, a kiss is just a kiss…..’ and who was the singer?"

This musical quiz will be followed by a splendid ‘Hartleys’ two-course, hot supper, with coffee.

Appropriately, cheese will follow. This will be the part of the evening when our ‘illusions’ regarding our ability to distinguish different cheeses by taste alone will be tested. Is that a Rocquefort or is it Bleu d’Auvergne or is it Danish Blue? To help in this challenge members will be invited to hear several descriptions and then to judge/guess which description fits best the cheese they have just tasted.

We intend to give value for money and this ‘fun and fellowship’ evening is intended to be just that. We are not seeking to raise a large sum of money but any surplus will be going to a very good cause, the Wheelchair Foundation.
