Santa, aka Rtn Jim Cork, RC Woodhall Spa, visited Romania in mid December, firstly, to further a humanitarian project with the Rotary Club of Zalau and the Zalau City Council and, secondly, to help distribute Christmas presents and other items to various groups in the region. A further report on the project will follow.
The photos show Santa with a. Emilia Iordache, the Headmistress of Moigrad School in western Romania delivering “School Boxes”. b. With Fairy Godmother Joan and Julia Pestalau, a pupil in Stirch School, receiving her present.
Whilst there, the team comprising Jim and members of Romanian Aid Distribution (ROAD) Lincolnshire distributed over 500 items and presents donated by numerous organisations in the County, including a number from Inner Wheel Clubs. These went to Schools, in the form of boxes of paper, pens and pencils, etc., to families in Gipsy villages, clothing and presents, and to mothers in the Maternity Wing in Jibau Hospital, baby boxes. Jim also took 500 bars of chocolate which were handed out to both children in the villages and to the residents in an old people’s home. |
