On Saturday 2nd December the Rotary Club of Wortley turned out in force to clean up their neighbourhood as part of their Community Service campaign. A dozen Rotarians and friends turned out as part of a mass ‘litter pick’ in Burncross and Tankersley and filled over 26 large bin bags of discarded rubbish from the grounds of the Burncross Community Centre and the roadside of the A61.

Rtn and Past President Mark Cooke said, “The day was really enjoyable and something we will be doing more of. It provides us with an opportunity to put something back into the community we serve; it costs nothing more than time and a little effort. We are planning to repeat a similar litter pick in a different area of the community each month”.
One of Wortley’s favourite charities is Weston Park Cancer Appeal and they have donated in excess of £20,000 to the appeal over the last 2 years.
