Epworth Rotary Coast2Coast Cycle

A well earned breatherTraining continued with a meeting of four of our number for a pleasant ride on Easter Monday. Everything started well all turning up at Iain’s on time and raring to go. Eventually we set off and within 2 miles the curse of my pedal reared its ugly head again when it duly fell off. I had by now revised my Scout motto and was now prepared so a quick stop later we were away on a steady ride down by the Trent to West Stockwith stopping outside the pub where we resisted its calling and drank water instead.

It was the long climb to Gringley which was hardest but the bench at the top was a very welcome sight. The day then went downhill dramatically. After much discussion with the map out! It was decided to spurn the fast wiz down the road but to head via a scenic route through the village and then the canal bank to Misterton. Simon Cliff to the fore and we were soon coasting down the correct road and found the turning with ease. We had to cycle with care as the canal seemed very close in some places, visions of falling in concentrated the mind.
