ROTARY INTERNATIONAL R. GORDON R. MCINALLY

Director, 2007—09

Rotary shares many of the same ideals and has many of the same aspirations as the abolitionists of the nineteenth century and, accordingly, I am delighted that Rotary International, thanks to District 1270, have become involved in the Hull Freedom Trail marking the bi-centenary of the abolition of slavery.

As the world’s oldest, and best respected, service organisation, Rotary has been providing aid to humanitarian care to Africa for many years. I therefore commend the concept of using the Freedom Trail to raise awareness of the anniversary and to provide Non-Governmental Organisations in Sierra Leone with much needed 4X4 vehicles.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the Hull Freedom Trail and those from Rotary District 1270 for all their efforts to bring this significant anniversary to the public’s attention.

I wish every one of the “Trailblazers” a safe journey to Sierra Leone and a safe return home thereafter.

With kindest regards,

R Gordon R McInally

Director

Rotary International
