The Freeplay Foundation provides Lifeline self-powered radios that need no batteries or electricity to provide daily access to radio school programmes and to provide vital health and life skills information. Through education, children and young people gain the self-esteem and confidence that expands their horizons. Since 2003 Rotary has been supporting a project in Zambia called Learning At Taonga Market. 5800 Lifeline radios have been distributed helping around 400,000 children to obtain quality primary education.

District 1270 delivered 390 Wheelchairs to Zambia
Message from the Rotary Club Kitwe D9210 “We have come to learn through this project that when a chair is given to one person, the entire family’s (and we have fairly large families over here) life changes. The other members of the family suddenly have a little more time to attend to other necessary chores because one who needed constant care is able to get from point A to point B on his or her own”. Thank you District 1270 Yours in Rotary Larry Mapani RC Kitwe |

On Friday 6th February members and friends of the Rotary Club of Hull Paragon gathered in Cottingham for an evening of fun, fellowship and fooling.
A panel of three, all unused to both wine and the finer points of deception, each tried to convince the audience that their description of the wine being sampled was correct. These descriptions were heard in an atmosphere entirely suited to their nature … lean and tart… peppery … finesse …fresh, fruity and young (and this was just the panel). After all the wines had been sampled three of the seven teams were tied on five correct answers out of six. Including an auction of a Rotary watch kindly donated by one of the members and a raffle of goods provided by the rest, a total of £411 was raised for Hull & East Riding Institute for the Blind. |
