Santa joined Beverley Rotarians in mid December to help them raise funds for the Candlelighters.
This annual week long event where the club, joined by Santa, tours round Beverley and the surrounding villages is extremely popular with all the young folk. And this year was no exception. By the second night over £600 had been donated raising Rotarians hopes of a record this year. And they were well rewarded for all their hard work walking the streets when, at the end of the week, they counted the all the monies which totalled slightly over £1528. In this picture the team were just about to travel around the village of Tickton, the night before they had been in Walkington. |

Gift Wrapping for Cancer Research |
|
Saturday, 09 December 2006 |

Saturday 9 December saw the first day of RC Hull Paragon's gift wrapping service in Princes Quay, Hull.
In its fourth year, this has become a regular event in the Club's calendar. Rotarians from the Club gift wrapped presents for two weekends in December. Amongst those who like the service are men who want to impress their ladies with, not only a lovely gift, but one that looks as it is has been lovingly wrapped. However, a word of caution - One of last year's recipients brought his wife this year so that their son's presents could be wrapped - he was rumbled! Teenagers are another group that love the gift wrapping service and very often the whole team are wrapping for one person's family - granny, grandad, brother, sister, mum, dad etc! This year's funds are going towards the President's charity - Cancer Research |

On Saturday 2nd December the Rotary Club of Wortley turned out in force to clean up their neighbourhood as part of their Community Service campaign. A dozen Rotarians and friends turned out as part of a mass ‘litter pick’ in Burncross and Tankersley and filled over 26 large bin bags of discarded rubbish from the grounds of the Burncross Community Centre and the roadside of the A61.
Pictured here are Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Wortley with the bags of rubbish collected outside the Burncross Community Centre |
