Hornsea President running The London Marathon |
Tuesday, 06 February 2007 |
April 22 is London Marathon day and one of our district presidents, Denys Fell of Hornsea Rotary, has entered the race. The reason? He got the bug after running the Humber Bridge half marathon (organised by Hull Rotary) last year. "I was challenged to run it," explained Denys, "by Dr John Gosnold of Hull Rotary when he visited our club. Yes it was tough, but I didn't realise how enjoyable it would be. My thoughts then naturally turned to having a go at the big one - London!"
Denys is running for Shaw Trust which helps disadvantaged and disabled people find employment. |

Valentine's Ball - 1940's style |
Tuesday, 30 January 2007 |
RC Grimsby Havelok held a 1940's Valentine Ball on Saturday 10th February at the Wintergardens in Cleethorpes. This was the last ever dance to be held in the Wintergardens as the building is to be demolished.
Over £1900 was raised for the President's charity, Grimsby Alzheimers. Guests enjoyed demonstrations and dancing to the Colin Chamley Big Band. It was reported as a "fantastic night where the majority entered into the spirit of the night dressed as it would have been in the 1940s" |
