DG Peter and AudreyThank you all for your good wishes and cards that we have received, it is great to have such support.

We are inspired by what we learned in San Diego and at the RI Convention in Birmingham and look forward to sharing it with you.

We had the joy of meeting Rotarians and friends at the Lincolnshire Show and at the handover which was everything we could have wished for. Our sincere thanks to Bas, Jan and Freya, the Lincoln and Woodhall Spa Rotary clubs, Lincoln Inner Wheel Club and all the visiting clubs, for making it so.  On behalf of District 1270  we thank Mohammad and Lynn for leading us so well in the past Rotary year and know that they will continue to serve in this year and the future.

Thanks to all the outgoing District Officers and to those continuing and taking new office. It is gratifying to know that we have a great team to support us. The future of Rotary is in OUR hands, so let’s get to it !

District 1270 truly International at the Lincolnshire Show
Written by Comms Team

Betsy, Florimond and RomainDistrict 1270's stand at the Lincolnshire Show proved to be a hub of international meetings on the second day.  As well as a visit from a visitor from Colombia who was staying in the UK following the GSE visits of 2008, we were pleased to welcom Betsy Yost, Assistant District Governor from District 5520.  Betsy had been to the International Convention and was enjoying a friendship exchange in District 1270.

Betsy is pictured talking to Florimond Voreux and Romain Navet , both aged 20, who are currently on workplacements in Hull.  Their workplacements have been arranged through the RC of Hull Paragon and their twinned club - RC Lille.  Florimond is on placement at The Deep courtesy of a Hull Paragon Rotarian and Romain is working at Envirodoors courtesy of a Humberside Rotarian.  Whilst this is not a specified Rotary project it shows how the fellowship and friendship at an international level can provide so many opportunities for so many others in our local communities.

The stand team were also pleased to welcome GSE 2009 Team Members - Rachel Shaw and Jason Hippisley to the stand.  Both were at the show for professional reasons.  Jason, Editor of the Market Rasen Mail as a member of the Press and Rachel as Publicity Officer for the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

Day 2 at The Lincolnshire Show
Written by Comms Team
Thursday, 25 June 2009

Busy StandThe Rotary team re-convened to promote Rotary in District in 1270 and provide valuable service to the show's many visitors.  It was another busy day where we had more people enquiring after property they had lost than people who had found property.  However, we were delighted to re-unite one lady with her purse.  The delight on her face and her gratitude was immensely satisfying for all involved in assisting this lady.

Lifestraw was very popular especially with the school groups as it was a totally inter-active epxerience with Rotarians spending most of their day drinking dirty water from beer glasses.  What was even more pleasing for the team was hearing from the manyJean Paul yong people that visited the stand was that several of them had heard of Lifestraw and a few had also raised money for Lifestraw.

As on the first day, promotion of Rotary was happening in several other places on the Showground.  A sign promoting the RC of Scunthorpe was seen in the agricultural machinery section and as you can see from the attached picture the Rotary Roundel was on the switchcard machine of the young men from Jardin Du France who had actually been on a stand at the Birmingham Convention - they were delighted to see more Rotarians at the Lincolnshire Show.

Several potential members visited the stand - some for District 1270 and some our neighbouring District - 1070.  All the contact were emailed immediately and RC of Boston have replied with their thanks saying that they do actually know the individual whose details were forwarded to them so will contact as a priority.
